Home/IoT Solutions/Smart water metering
Smart water metering IoT.
Prepaid ultrasonic metering, district metered areas and automated meter reading — the instrumentation layer that turns estimated billing into measured billing and makes non-revenue water actionable.
Flagship deployment
Water metering IoT solutions
Our largest IoT deployment base is in smart water metering. Flant Automations has configured and installed 15,900+ prepaid ultrasonic water meters, 110+ bulk meters and 6 zonal meters across Lagos Water Corporation schemes — connected estates and distribution zones instrumented for automated billing, consumption analytics and non-revenue water control.
- Prepaid ultrasonic metering — tamper-resistant, no moving parts, vend-and-monitor billing
- Bulk & zonal metering — district metered areas (DMAs) for non-revenue water reduction
- Automated meter reading (AMR) — remote consumption capture, no manual meter walks
- Consumption analytics — leak signatures, demand profiling and revenue assurance reporting
- Electromagnetic flow measurement — waterworks and trunk-main instrumentation

Common questions
What clients ask us first.
Can you install on a live main without a supply interruption?
Yes. Full-profile insertion electromagnetic meters are hot-tapped: the sensor is inserted into the pressurised line, the converter mounted and wired, and calibration verified, with the water still flowing. We have done this on Lagos trunk mains.
What does the analytics layer actually produce?
Dashboards, alarms and reporting that turn raw telemetry into leak signatures, demand profiles and revenue-assurance reporting — including minimum night flow per district metered area, which is the measurement that tells a utility where its losses are.
Does it work where mobile coverage is unreliable?
The edge nodes buffer locally when coverage drops and forward when the link returns, so a coverage gap delays data rather than losing it.
Metering a zone, a network or an estate?
Send the connection count and the diameters. We will propose the meter technology, the DMA structure and the deployment sequence.
